A man has sadly died and a woman has been seriously injured after a car collided into a wall in Walsall last night (02/01).

Emergency services was called to Bell Lane, shortly after 10.20PM, to reports of a collision.

On arrival, crews discovered a man and woman who were still inside the car following a collision with a driveway wall.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “The driver, a man, was found to be in cardiac arrest and was rapidly freed from the car in order for CPR and advanced life support to commence.

However, despite everyone’s best efforts it unfortunately became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

The passenger, a woman believed to be in her 20s, was trapped in the car for about 45 minutes and had to be cut free with the help of the fire service.

She was assessed and treated for serious arm and leg injuries before being transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. The doctor travelled with the patient on the back of the ambulance to continue treatment en-route.”

The road was partially blocked whilst an investigation took place and the area was made safe.
