Appeal following serious Northfield collision

-

West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Northfield in the early hours of Saturday morning (12/01).

A silver Land Rover was travelling towards Northfield along Shenley Lane near to the junction of Meadow Brook Road when it has left the carriageway and crashed into a phone mast.

Three men in the vehicle were treated for injuries at the scene and taken to hospital. The 39-year old driver remains in hospital in a critical condition. The 30-year old rear seat passenger also remains in hospital in a stable condition. A 25-year-old front seat passenger was released from hospital later in the day. The road was closed for several hours.

Sergeant Alan Wood from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This investigation is still in its early stages and we are trying to establish fully why this vehicle left the road.

“The collision occurred just after midnight but even at this time the road is regularly in use.

“We are reviewing CCTV and have established that another car was in the area of the collision travelling in the same direction. The driver of this vehicle could hold valuable information and I would ask them to contact us.

“I urge anyone else who may have witnessed the collision or has information and hasn’t already spoken to us to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Enquiries continue and anyone with information is urged to contact police via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website between 8am – midnight, or call 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111. Please quote log number 44 of 12 January.
