Athlete admits attempted murder at Alexander Stadium in Perry Barr

Athlete Lauren Jeska has admitted attempted murder and assault after an unprovoked attack on staff at Alexander Stadium in Perry Barr on the morning of Tuesday 22nd March.

Jeska, aged 42, from Wales, stabbed a man, aged 51, in the head and neck several times resulting in life-threatening injuries, from which he continues to make a steady recovery.

The runner also inflicted minor injuries on two other members of staff at the head office of UK Athletics, which is based at Alexander Stadium on Walsall Road.

Jeska was restrained by staff at the scene until police arrived. She was then arrested and taken into custody.

She pleaded guilty to attempted murder, two counts of assault, and possession of two bladed articles in a public place at Birmingham Crown Court this morning (22/09).

Jeska was remanded in custody for psychiatric reports ahead of sentencing on Tuesday 15 November.
