Police have launched an investigation after a vehicle smashed into Barclays Bank and a number of masked men ran from the car into the bank this morning (29/06).

Police were called to the bank on Stratford Road, at around 11.45AM, following reports of a robbery taking place.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police, said: “The vehicle has been seized and will be forensically examined. Police are at the scene and continue to make enquiries into the robbery.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are on-going. No injuries have been reported.”

A spokesperson from Barclays Bank, said: “I can confirm that an incident took place this morning at our branch in Sparkbrook and we are assisting the police with their enquiries.

The branch is currently closed but we will endeavour to re-open as soon as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
