Car buyer threatened with screwdriver and robbed in Bordesley Green

DC Rocky Kalam is appealing for information after a man from London was robbed having travelled to Birmingham to test drive a car.

The man, aged 23, arranged to meet a man in the City Centre on Thursday 24th November, to view and hopefully purchase a white Fiesta he’d seen advertised on Gumtree.

During the test drive he was directed to a petrol station and then Garrison Street in Bordesley Green where a second man got into the car.

He was shown documents, but refused to hand over the cash because they appeared to be photocopied and asked to be taken back to the train station. Instead he was threatened with a screwdriver and forced to hand over cash before being thrown out of the car.

CCTV enquires at the petrol station have revealed a man police now want to question in connection with the robbery. Do you recognise him? If so please contact DC Rocky Kalam on 101 or via email at
