Forensics team search for evidence on Alum Rock Road

Detectives investigating the shooting of a man in Alum Rock last night (28/11) are appealing for information and witnesses to come forward.

An 18-year-old man was sitting alone in his silver VW Passat at the junction of Alum Rock Road and Sladefield Road when a shot was fired around 11.10pm.

The teenager suffered gunshot wounds to his torso and neck, and remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The gunman is believed to have fled on foot and officers are currently treating it as a targeted attack.

They are particularly keen to trace the occupants of a vehicle which made off from Sladefield Road in the direction of Washwood Heath Road soon after the shooting.

Detective Inspector Richard Marsh said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and seeking to establish the circumstances behind this shooting.

“We will not tolerate gun crime on our streets and we are determined to find whoever was responsible for this as a matter of urgency.

“The community are our eyes and ears and I would urge anyone with information which will help us do this to get in touch.”
