Earlier this year, Bourne & Co opened on Suffolk Street Queensway the aim of serving up the finest of Cocktails thanks to the vastly-experienced, artisan mixologists, with friendly but professional table-service within an intimate and distinct 1920’s prohibition-style feel.
Bourne & Co offer a thoroughly unique drinks menu not seen elsewhere with age-blended, rare-casked and matured spirits sourced from almost impossible to find suppliers around the globe.
Birmingham Updates and Bourne & Co are working together this week to identify Birmingham’s favourite cocktail. Take a look at the splendid options below then pick your favourite:
1. Smy Chai – Martin millers westbourne strength and Coffee infused antica formula – Delightful sour with a Chai-spice twist.
Chai spice infused egg white to give a silky smooth texture, dry shaken with Coffee infused antica formula, Martin millers westbourne Gin, Fresh lemon juice and Sugar. Finished with grated dark chocolate and star anise.
2. Crystal-berry sling – Makers Mark Bourbon and Bittertruth Pimento – Christmas spice and blueberries.
This American take on a Singapore sling really hits the spot at Christmas, with freshly made blueberries compote, shaken with Makers mark bourbon, Pimento allspice liqueur and Tahitan vanilla, Balanced out with citric acid soda.
3. Grasshopper – Fernet branca, Crème de menthe and Crème de cacao – Minty ice cream delight.
Glowing emerald green, the Grasshoppers charm will entice you with its fresh, clean aroma. We don’t make our grasshoppers the simple traditional way, we add in a few different treats into the mix to celebrate one of our favorite digestifs.
4. D&G – Brugal anejo and St Elizabeth allspice – Beautiful tiki-style julep with notes of Tahitan vanilla, Cinnamon & All spice.

Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby – Created on behalf of Dan Greaves & Gavin Armstrong, Two of our regulars and close friends of Mr Bourne. This Dominican aged rum julep style drink takes a tiki twist. With the addition of Tahitian Vanilla, All spice dram, Cinnamon bark and lime juice. It really is a beautiful creation.
5. Jack Valentine – Limoncello, Cointreau, Beefeater, Brugal extra dry – Sweet festive fun with nostalgic flavours of childhood.
One of Bourne & Cos in-house creations… Bourne invented this drink for one of his young apprentice bartenders… The apprentice bartender was shy, timid and lacked confidence. The drink was named after the apprentice in order to give the apprentice a talking point to start conversation. Now the Ex-apprentice is a pro aswell as arrogant and loud! Bubblegum fruity fun! Including a ‘heady’ mixture including Limoncello, Grand marnier, Cointreau and other white spirits. Served tall over plenty of ice, popping candy and festive garnish!
