Family pay tribute to man killed in collision on Belgrave Middleway.

The family of a man who was killed in a city centre collision on Sunday (26 March) have paid tribute to their “well respected son, husband, father and work colleague”.

The 45-year-old pedestrian was struck by a green Mondeo estate at around 11.40pm on Belgrave Middleway as it travelled along the outbound carriageway of the road. The car had been pursued from Short Heath Road in Erdington after the driver failed to stop.

Police abandoned the pursuit when the car went through a red light moments before the collision.

Dil Bahadur Subedi was treated by the ambulance service but despite their best efforts they could do nothing to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have since located a burnt out green Mondeo in Northfield which they believe to be the vehicle involved in the collision. Enquires suggest it was stolen from the Bordesley Green area on Thursday 16 March.

His family have paid tribute to Dil, they said: “We have tragically lost a good son, husband, father and well-respected work colleague. The family wish to be given privacy at this difficult time.”

Inspector Steve Radford, from the force’s Collision Unit, said: “I would urge anyone who has any information on the movements of this vehicle before and after the collision to get in touch with my team.

“Our enquiries so far suggest that the car involved was a green Ford Mondeo Estate that had BBS alloys and a tow bar. If you have any information please call my team on 101.

“The family of Mr Subedi are being supported by specialist officers at this tragic time and our thoughts remain with them.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the force’s Collision Investigation Unit on
