Four people were taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning (04/01), after the car they were travelling in hit a building on the Pershore Road in Cotteridge.

The blue Ford Fiesta they were travelling in came off the road, at around 1.30AM, following a short pursuit involving an unmarked police car, as the Fiesta was believed to have been stolen.

The driver, aged 20, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other three passengers aged 17, 18 and 19 are being treated for serious injuries.

The road was closed at the junction with Holly Road and Watford Road in order to allow the vehicle to be recovered and a collision investigation to take place. It has now reopened.

West Midlands Police Professional Standards Department has been informed as well as the IPCC, as is normal procedure in a collision where a police vehicle is involved.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information on the incident is asked to call the police on 101 quoting log 138 4/1/18.
