Man arrested on Alum Rock Road for having an imitation gun with intent to cause fear. ‬

A man has been arrested on firearms offences following 999 calls reporting someone with a gun in Washwood Heath Road.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police, said: “Armed officers attended and detained a 32-year-old in Alum Rock Road at around 7.30PM on Thursday (23/03).

A BB gun was seized; the weapon was not a threat to the public although it did have the appearance of a genuine firearm.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Thanks to those people who alerted us: they enabled us to send officers to the scene quickly and get the man into custody.”

The incident is not connected to the terror attack in Westminster.
