An investigation has been launched and a man has been arrested following an assault in Friar Park in Wednesbury on Sunday (09/07).

Emergency services were called to Friar Park Road at around 7.45pm following reports that a man had been attacked with a bladed weapon thought to be a machete.

The man, aged 35, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition.

A man, aged 53, was arrested a short time later from a nearby address on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
