Man attacked by group of men armed with a knife in Aston

DC Tom Saunders, from Birmingham’s Violent Crime Team, is appealing for information after a man was attacked on his way to work.

The man, aged 45, was walking along Freer Road in Aston, at around 5.45am on Thursday (17/11), when a group of men armed with a knife attacked him.

He sustained serious injuries and is currently in hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Detectives investigating the assault are trawling CCTV and speaking to the community to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

DC Saunders, said: “At this stage a motive for the attack is unclear and we are appealing to witnesses who were in the area at the time to come forward.

“The man was walking to work, like he does every morning, when he was set upon by a number of men. Anyone that can help us establish exactly why this attack happened is asked to call us.”
