Man charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a child died in a collision.

John Place, aged 73, from Sutton Coldfield, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a child died in a collision in Erdington earlier this year.

Poppy Clarke, aged 3, was killed and her mother Rachel Clarke was seriously injured when they were hit by a Volkswagen Passat as they pushed Poppy’s bike across the Chester Road on Monday 6th June.

Place was charged by post yesterday (12 November) with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Wednesday 7th December.
