Man charged with possessing a knife near a Frankley school.

A man, aged 53, has been charged with possessing a knife in a public place after it was reported a man was seen acting in a ‘potentially dangerous manner’ near Balaam Wood School.

Police were dispatched to Arden Road on Tuesday morning (13/09) and the man was arrested by local officers from Longbridge Neighbourhood Police Team.

Sergeant Raf Khan, said: “We understand that this incident concerns the residents of Frankley.

“We are not seeking anyone else in connection with this matter, but officers will be patrolling in the vicinity to provide reassurance.”

Balaam Wood School has released the following statement: “The school was made aware of an incident in the local community whereby an adult was seen acting in a potentially dangerous manner. Police were involved in the matter and we have been reassured that investigations continue. I would like to confirm that this incident was in no way connected to Balaam Wood School and that no member of the school community was in any danger.

As always, we work closely with the Police and any other agencies to ensure that Frankley is a safe place for all. The safety of our pupils is of paramount importance to us.”
