Dean Jones, aged 47, who was reported missing on Saturday 14th January, has been been found dead in a lake on University of Birmingham campus.
Emergency services were dispatched to the lake within the Vale Village campus near Edgbaston Park Road, at around 3:30PM on Tuesday (21/02), following the discovery of a man’s body.
Officers condoned off the area whilst they recovered the body and conducted a scene investigation. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course but police are not treating the death as suspicious.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Police, said: “Police searching for missing man Dean Jones from Birmingham have found a body in the lake near to Edgbaston Park Road. The 47-year-old’s family have been informed.”
University of Birmingham has released the following statement: “We are are deeply saddened to learn that the body of a man, believed to be in his forties and unconnected to the University, was discovered in the lake at The Vale earlier today.
Staff and students affected by the incident can access support and counselling services via our website.”
