Motorcyclist sadly dies following a collision near Fort Dunlop

PC Karl Davies, from the West Midlands Police collision investigation unit, is appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on Boxing Day (26/12),

The motorcyclist, a man, aged 39, from Castle Bromwich, was travelling away from the Fort Dunlop Island on the Fort Parkway towards Castle Vale, at around 12PM, when it is believed he was in collision with a barrier.

He was taken to hospital but sadly died of his injuries. His family have been told and are being supported by specially trained liaison officers. He is not being named at this stage.

The road was closed for some time following the collision.

PC Davies, said: “The collision took place near to the Fort Dunlop Shopping Centre. The motorcyclist was riding together with another motorcyclist, when we believe he collided with a barrier. The rider was taken to hospital, but despite valiant efforts by medical staff, tragically he died a short time later. I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police on 101.”
