Murder investigation launched after a man was stabbed to death in Washwood Heath

Detective Inspector Shaun Egan, from West Midlands Police CID, has launched a murder investigation after a man was killed in the Washwood Heath on Saturday night (10/09).


Emergency services were called to Highfield Road, just before 10PM, to reports of several men involved in a fight.

On arrival, Officers found a man, in his 20s, who had suffered a suspected stab wound. He was treated by paramedics but nothing could be done to save him and he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The area was cordoned off while detectives carried out a full investigation into what happened.

A man, aged 25, arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of Sunday morning (11/09) – he remains in police custody.

DI Egan, said: “The attack happened at a time when we know there would have been a number of people in the area and we need to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
