PC Piotr Gass, from British Transport Police (BTP), has released CCTV image of man he’d like to speak to after a passenger was punched in what is thought to be a racially motivated assault on a train.
The victim, a man, aged 24, was on a service travelling between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International, at around 8PM on Friday 2nd June, when a man sat opposite him began to insult him and other passengers.
The abusive man then punched the victim in the face and made a racist comment, before getting off the train at Birmingham International.
PC Piotr Gass, said: “We absolutely will not tolerate any level of violence or hate crime, and we take all reports of such offences extremely seriously.
“Our enquiries have uncovered an image of a man we’d like to identify in connection with this incident, and I’d urge anyone who knows him to contact us.”
