Police are appealing for information after a rogue scrap metal dealer threatened a woman in Sheldon and stole her car.

On Friday 30th March, at around 1.30PM, a man knocked on the door of a house on Hollywell Road in Sheldon, and asked the homeowner if she’d like her rubbish collected.

It’s thought she agreed to pay £30 for the man to clear the debris from outside her house.

A short time later he knocked on her door again, but when she refused to let him in, he forced his way into the address and threatened her with a knife.

Fearing for her own safety, she ran into the street and looked on in horror on as the offender jumped in her Skoda Fabia and sped off.

Neighbours reported the man was using a blue van to collect scrap metal.

It is possible that he’s visited other properties in the Birmingham area. Do you recognise him?

Investigating officers have since recovered the stolen Skoda, and it’s been sent for extensive forensic testing as enquires continue.

If you recognise the man in the footage, or have any information which could help the investigation please contact police on 101.
