Primark’s new flagship store spanning across 160,000 sq ft is opening in Birmingham city centre, where the Pavilions Shopping Centre used to be, and will replace an existing shop on New Street and be spread over 5 floors. It will be the largest flagship store in the world.
Primark bought the site back in 2014, for a rumoured £60 million, and expect to have the project finished in December this year.
A spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that Primark’s recent planning application for its flagship Birmingham Pavilions store simply relates to the new external signage and changes being made to the shop-front.”
As well as this exciting new addition to Birmingham’s already vibrant high-street, it has been announced that three former Pavilions shops will be returning as part of Primark’s new flagship store in Birmingham. These are Thorntons, Three mobile and H&M women’s brand Monki.
Thorntons and Three will stand next to the left of the main Primark High Street entrance and Monki will sit to the right.
Never heard of Monki? Well, it’s basically the best aspects of H&M all in one place. It was first trialed in the UK as a concession store in Selfridges in London- so it’s got to be good! The H&M brand describes its young women’s’ range as ‘mixing Scandi cool with the energy of Asian street style’.
