Two people have died following a serious domestic incident in Wolverhampton

Two people have died following a serious domestic incident in Wolverhampton this morning (08/03).

Local and armed officers from West Midlands Police were dispatched to a block of flats in Leasowes Drive, at around 9.45AM, where it is believed a man attacked two women before inflicting stab injuries on himself.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police, said: “Officers used stun grenades as they stormed the flat in a bid to distract and detain the knifeman.”

Three Midlands Air Ambulances from Cosford, Strensham and Staffordshire were also sent to the scene along with three land ambulances, three paramedic officers and the West Midlands Care Team Doctor.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “A man and woman estimated to be in their 30s had suffered very serious stab wounds.  Sadly, despite best efforts by ambulance staff, it was not possible to save either of them and they were confirmed dead at scene.

“Another woman in her 50s was taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham with potentially life threatening stab wounds.  Aircrew paramedics traveeled with the patient to provide additional treatment en route.

“A police officer who was sent to the scene suffered a minor injury.  He was assessed by ambulance staff and was discharged after treatment.”
