Sgt Alan Wood, from the West Midlands Police collision investigation unit, is appealing for information after a woman, aged 62, sadly died following a collision involving a car which failed to stop in Handsworth.

The collision happened on Rookery Road near its junction with Soho Road at around 11.10AM this morning (09/11).

The woman, who lived locally, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surrounding roads were closed by police, and officers have recovered CCTV from the area.
The family of the woman who died has been informed. They are being supported by specialist officers.

Sgt Alan Wood, said: “Urgent efforts are being made to trace the car involved in the collision.

“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of the lady who has died.

“We urgently need to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.

“I’d urge to the driver to do the right thing and make himself to known police as soon possible.”
