The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Quest is coming to Birmingham this July and its the perfect way to explore the heritage and vibrancy of our historic city.

Supported by Comedian Jo Brand, the Poppy Quest is a brand new fundraising event by the charity which provides financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants.

Taking place this 13th July and starting at the iconic Victoria Square, the Legion’s Poppy Quest 2019 will take participants on a journey of discovery around the streets of Birmingham revealing hidden secrets of the city as they go.

Jo says: “This might be surprising for some but I love walking, even better when it’s with a group of friends and we can build in a bit of history and get our brains in gear too. It’s a recipe for smiles and laughter – whilst helping us all to stay fit and mentally healthy, which I’m all for promoting. I’m particularly pleased to support Poppy Quest for The Royal British Legion, as it offers you a chance to follow a 10k walking trail around Birmingham answering puzzles along the way, and even better – you leave techy gadgets behind and, just use your wits and a map…

“I can’t think of a better way to have a fun day out, testing my local knowledge whilst raising funds for our Armed Forces community.”

Participants will navigate all four corners of the city armed with just a map and a quiz to answer en route to guide them from point to point. Suitable for all ages and abilities, those taking part can walk solo, with their dog or with family and friends.

The Legion offers life-long support to the Armed Forces community in a number of ways including providing crisis grants, researching the changing impact of blast injuries on the body, lobbying the government on key issues, specialist dementia care, sport and art based recovery programmes and advising on benefits and money problems.

The event is free for under 18s to take part and £16 per adult with a minimum fundraising target of £50. The fee includes an official Poppy Quest 2019 t-shirt, finisher’s medal, detailed city map and quiz sheet and there will be entertainment and refreshments at the start and finish.

Birmingham Updates has been sent the discount code “JO50” which gives you 50% off the registration fee for the event.
