West Midlands Police has charged Derrol Flynn over a series of distraction burglaries in which it’s alleged she posed as a police officer to trick her way into people’s homes.
Flynn is accused of making a fake police ID badge out of a SIM card holder and a shoe lace and using it as a ruse to deceive women aged between 60 and 98 into believing she was an investigator.
The 45-year-old, formerly of Kitts Green Road, Kitts Green, is charged with four counts of burglary, four attempted burglaries and one attempted robbery.
It’s alleged she stole £600 from a couple on Paddock Road, Hollywood, on 26th May; small sums of cash from homes in Masshouse Lane, Kings Norton, and Quinton’s Edenhall Road on 18th and 25th June; and thousands from a 98-year-old Bournville woman on 26th June.
She’s also accused of trying to steal from properties in Dorsington Road, Olton; Hillmount Close, Hall Green; and Heath Way in Shard End on 25 June, plus Fairfax Road, West Heath, the following day.
And she faces one count of attempted to rob a woman of her handbag at the Dorsington Road address.
Flynn is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 29 November where the charges will formally be put to her.
