A man, aged 22, has been arrested after over 50 mobile phones were reported stolen during a Royal Blood gig held at Arena Birmingham on Saturday night (18/11).
A proactive operation, led by local officers, which was set up after intelligence suggested gig-goers had been targeted at previous performances by the band, led to the man being arrested in nearby Broad Street.
A total of 53 stolen phones (below) were recovered from the man, who was arrested on suspicion of theft.
Officers are now appealing for people who attended the gig and had their phone stolen to contact them.
Detective Sergeant Jeff Clifford, said: “Currently the vast majority of victims have been identified, but we urge anyone who attended the concert who is missing a phone to call 101. Log 671 19/11/17 being used to record new reports.
He added: “It’s an unfortunately a reality that large crowds at concerts such as this make rich pickings for career criminals.
“We’re hot on the heels of these offenders but you can also reduce your chances of falling victim to such crimes by remaining extra vigilant when attending busy events.
“If you think you had your phone taken last night, please get in touch with us and we can check whether or not we have been able to recover it.”
People are urged to record details of their mobile phones and other valuables on the national property register at www.immobilise.com , which can help police reunite stolen items with owners.
