The good old British pub quiz is a long favoured way to break up the working week. Catching up with friends over a few pints has never seemed so sophisticated. However we shall admit, the last thing we want after a hard day’s graft is to be quizzed on brain busting topics, such as the Battle of Hastings. Neither do we want to argue with our pals over whether track 8 of the music round was The Stone Roses or Oasis.
Luckily, this is all about to change as Birmingham is quick becoming a hot spot for cult quizzes. These few weeks will see pop culture fans exercise their minds in a much refreshing manner.

The Mighty Boosh TV series first aired in 2004 on BBC Three and since then has gained an army of cult fans. Noel Fielding (now of Bake Off fame) and Julian Barratt’s sitcom enjoyed the success of three series’. The quiz will precede a showing of 2016 comedy Mindhorn featuring Barratt who stars as a has-been actor whose former Detective character is called upon to help solve a real-life crime. Confused? Ok, ok, this one is sold out but we had to tell you all about it as The Old Crown is fast becoming a contender for the best quirky quizzes in the region. All of you early birds are set for a hilarious night of questions surrounding the most famous cartoon family to grace our TV screens. We reckon this is one for ultimate super-fans of the show, given that it is a modest 29 seasons in!

Rick and Morty Quiz

Rick and Morty is another US animated series increasing in popularity over here. It’s mix of adult humour and illustration mean its high on our Netflix must-watch list. Viewers will be able to test their knowledge on the show that follows a mad-scientist yet, alcoholic grandfather and his grandson on numerous intergalactic adventures. In addition, treat yourself to a street-food treat before you quiz with Digbeth Dining Club on the doorstep!

Peep Show
March 6th – The Old Crown

This is a must for fans of the channel 4 sitcom who have been left with a Peepshow shaped hole in their hearts since its departure in 2015. The station’s longest running sitcom concluded after a massive 9 series’. So if nothing else, this is a great excuse to watch the programme starring comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb all over again. You’ll recognise those names, as subsequently the pair have enjoyed success after success off the back of this modern classic.
