DI Richard Marsh and his team are appealing for witnesses and information after shots were fired at a man in Sheldon.
Police were called to reports of a shotgun being used by two men on a motorbike on Coventry Road, near the junction with Coalway Avenue, at 10:15pm on Friday 31st August).
The shots were fired at the driver of a black Land Rover Freelander who had got out of the vehicle.
Police arrived at the scene within minutes and the car was found abandoned against traffic lights. There was no sign of anyone having been injured.
Detectives are working to identify those responsible and want to hear from anyone with information to come forward.
DI Marsh, said: “We are determined to tackle gun crime and we need the help of the public who are our eyes and ears.
“Even though we are unaware of anyone being injured we do not tolerate guns being fired discharged on our streets.
“This would have been a frightening experience for people in the area at the time and we would urge them to help us catch those responsible.”
