DISCOVER THE WORLD WHILE YOU STUDY
A high-profile study abroad event will take place in central Birmingham on 20th March, to demonstrate to British students the many advantages of studying at an international university.
The event is aimed at students currently in sixth-form or at college (and their families), who on the day, can meet representatives of international universities face-to-face, take part in activities and tour a range of stands – that’ll help them plan their next steps for international study.
The event will run from 4pm – 7pm at the Hyatt Regency – just off Broad Street, which is centrally located and easy to access.
Antony Adams, creator of International Education Week in the UK, is a qualified careers adviser who specialises in international education. During the last two years, he has visited over 40 universities outside the UK and has blogged about his experiences and his quest to go #aroundtheworldin80universities – his most recent trip being to Amsterdam to visit VU Amsterdam (who will also be exhibiting).
Antony highlights a number of advantages for students who want to study at an international university, including the opportunity to live in another country and discover its culture. From a career perspective, it is essential for students to have international experience on their CVs, particularly in light of the global business opportunities that Brexit is expected to bring for the UK. Two-thirds of graduate recruiters require strong evidence of international experience on the CVs of job applicants. If the UK is to compete in overseas markets, it is vital for students to develop international competency and understand the culture in other countries.
