Beer batter Onion Bhajis
Onion Bhajis are fantastic on their own as a beer nibble or as a showstopper for an Indian feast and they are easy to make⦠Just make sure you add plenty of good beer in
Ingredients
2 medium brown Onions
200 Grams Of Gram Flour
60 Grams of Plain Flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 fresh green or red chilli, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves finely chopped
8g of ginger, finely chopped
1 tbsp of butter, melted (optional)
2 curry leaves (optional)
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp fennel seeds
1/4 cup Freshly chopped Coriander ( optional)
1 Bottle Of Corona ( or Budweiser)Ā beer (210ml)
Salt to tasteĀ bhajis are built for every night of the week!
Method
- Peel and slice the onions into ringsĀ and season lightly with salt flakes !
- Run a sharp knife through the coriander, chop them finely, keep the stalks as they will add to the texture.
- In a big bowl combine the beer, gram flour and plain flour, baking powder, melted butter, all the spices and the chopped coriander, ginger and garlic.
- Combine well into a thick batter.
- Simply add the onion rings to the batter mix and combine well.
- Drop one ring at a time into hot oil (frying oil), on high heat and cook for only 2-3 minutes
- Serve with a big spoonful of a yogurt dip!
