Birmingham drugs courier jailed after haul of cocaine is seized by cops

-

A suspicious package was seized from the passenger seat and further examination revealed it was 5Kg of cocaine with a street value of more than £30,000 per kilogram.

The 58-year-old, of Wells Walk, Chelmsley Wood, pleaded guilty to possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday (13th July).

Detective Chief Inspector Will Henley, from the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), said: “This was a significant amount of cocaine which would have ended up on the streets without the intervention of officers.

“Our subsequent enquiries established Russell was involved in the trading of Class A drugs and he must now spend time behind for bars for his criminal activities.”
