At around 5pm last night (17th July) It is thought West Midlands police were called at when the man allegedly refused to release a woman, in Tarrant Grove, Quinton.
Officers carefully secured the area, surrounding the block of flats in Tarrant Grove, whilst negotiators moved in. The force issued an update this morning stating that “The road is cordoned off and police negotiators are at the scene to help bring the incident to a safe conclusion.”
The man, and the woman have not yet been named, however at 11am the Police issued a further update: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment after holding a woman hostage overnight in Tarrant Grove #Birmingham.
“The man gave himself up voluntarily just before 10.30am this morning.”
We understand that two police cars and a West Midlands Ambulance Service incident response vehicle remain at the scene.
