Birmingham Airport welcomes you with extra safety measures!

-

Birmingham Airport has been working hard introducing extra measures to ensure your journey is as safe as possible.

Going away this year? It is absolutely possible. Birmingham Airport has spent their time prepping the airport ready for you all to return with no worries.

Protecting passengers is always the main priority and they have reassured us that they have implemented a number of health and safety measures to ensure your journey through the airport is as safe as possible.

Watch the video below to learn more about some of the measures they have implemented and how these will affect your journey through the terminal

How are the staff keeping you safe?

  • All airport staff will be wearing face coverings in the terminal building and shields are in place to reduce the risk of face-to-face contact for both customers and colleagues. In security areas, where social distancing can take place, staff will have periods of time where face coverings are not worn.
  • An enhanced cleaning regime including the use of the most advanced disinfectant spraying method has been implemented throughout the terminal. The staff are paying particular attention to disinfecting surfaces, door handles, security trays and any areas deemed to be regular ‘touchpoints’.
  • Thermal imaging is currently being trialled with cameras carrying out temperature checks at our terminal entrance. It is also recommended that only customers travelling enter the terminal unless assistance is required. And of course, Do not visit the airport if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have a high temperature.

There are five key things you should do as you travel through the airport to help protect people around you. When you visit the airport you will see these are clearly displayed throughout your journey too.

  1. Wash your hands well and often with soap and water or use hand sanitisers provided
  2. Wear face coverings throughout the airport. Due to new government guidelines, face coverings are now mandatory. (For advice on exemptions click here)
  3. Use floor markings to adhere to social distancing when you’re at the airport
  4. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing and discard the used tissue
  5. Make contactless payments where possible, pre-book services before you travel, and check-in online with your airline

Following this guidance will allow us all to control the virus and help to keep everyone safe in all areas of the airport.
