A lorry driver has been seriously injured in a collision on the Birmingham New Road in Tipton this morning (23/10).
It took place just before 8:30am when a lorry collided with a tree.
The road is closed in both directions near the Burnt Tree junction and will be for several hours while specialist reconstruction staff examine the scene to establish what happened. 15 firefighters including the West Midlands Fire Service Technical Rescue Unit were called to the scene.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to contact them.
Sergeant Lee Froggatt, from the force traffic unit, said: “We have closed the road in both directions so that forensic examinations can be carried out. This is causing significant traffic delays so please avoid the area if possible.
“I’d appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch.”
