This week the Bordesley Green Police Team has targeted drug dealers operating in Bordesley Green and Alum Rock.
Ten drugs warrants have been executed across the neighbourhood between 11th and 13th December. With further raids planned in upcoming days.
All of the warrants have been executed following information about drug dealing which had been fed into the force by local people and concerned residents.
The crackdown has seen raids carried out at addresses on Essedon Road, Denville Crescent, Sunnymede Road, Reigate Avenue, Fernhurst Road, Bordesley Green Road East and Brookmeadow Road.
Tens of thousands of pounds has been seized from these properties. The seizure of cash, mobile phones and drugs will cut off the supply and demand for illegal substances and hinder drug dealing activity in the area.
Five suspects are now subject to investigation.
Sergeant Hanif Ullah who is leading the crackdown, said: “There is no question that drugs harm communities. Crimes like burglary, theft and robbery are often carried out to fund crippling drug addictions.
“It is vital we break this chain of drugs supply not only to prevent crime, but to protect the most vulnerable in our society from further harm.
“I’d personally like to encourage our communities to keep talking to us. This week has been hugely successful and it is testament to the relationship we have with local residents- if they hadn’t raised concerns with us, none of this would have happened.
“We hope this demonstrates to the people of Alum Rock and Bordesley Green that we are here, we are listening and we are determined to make a difference.”
