West Midlands Police have arrested a teenage boy as part of our investigation into a shocking collision in which a dog walker was knocked down and her pet killed. Read the full statement below:
Investigating officers released footage of the collision as part of an appeal for information earlier this week. The clip showed the horrifying moment a woman and her pet dog were hit by a car in Doe Bank Lane at around 5pm on Wednesday, 22 July.
The woman survived, but her beloved pet dog Millie sadly died at the side of the road.
We’ve had a phenomenal response to our plea for information. The footage has been shared thousands of times and it’s been watched by millions of people.
Lots of you have been in touch with really helpful information, and we’re now following up on a number of leads.
Earlier today we arrested a 17-year-old boy from the Kingstanding area of Birmingham after he was identified as the potential driver of the Renault Clio by members of the public.
He’s been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody where he will be questioned by investigating officers.

The cars came from the direction of the Queslett Road so we’re keen to hear from any witnesses as well as anyone who might have dash cam or cycle cam footage.
