BBC Sitcom star Citizen Khan has made it a Christmas to remember for children and families at Acorns Children’s Hospice thanks to a special festive visit.

The self-appointed ‘community leader’ dropped in to the hospice based in Selly Oak armed with a sack load of presents for the grateful children and families supported by the charity.

There were smiles and laughter aplenty as Mr Khan interacted with the children and families who had come to meet him, before handing out gifts and posing for selfies.

Commenting on the visit, Acorns Chief Executive, Toby Porter, said: “Christmas is always a magical time of year at Acorns, but Mr Khan’s visit really has to be the star on top of the tree!

“It was a truly joyful, unforgettable experience for the families who attended. You could tell that they will remember this day for a long time to come.”

The visit came about thanks to Birmingham born actor, comedian, radio and television presenter Adil Ray OBE who plays the part of the famous Mr Khan. Adil Ray is a Patron of Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Toby added: “At Acorns we recognise the importance of making special memories for the families we support. That is especially important at this time of year, so a huge heartfelt thank you to Adil for taking the time to visit us today as Citizen Khan today. ”

Acorns has been providing specialist palliative care and support for life limited and life threatened children in the West Midlands since 1988. The charity relies on fundraising and the generosity of the public for more than 65 percent of its income.
