Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to Vicarage Road, at around 1:30PM on Boxing Day, to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car near Abbots Road.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “Two ambulances, a paramedic office and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a doctor on board attended.

“We treated a man in his 70s who had been in collision with a car. He suffered multiple serious injuries to his head and leg.

“He was given trauma care on the scene before being taken by land ambulance on blue lights to the Queen Elizabeth Birmingham.”

The road was closed for several hours whilst officers investigated the incident and cleared the scene.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police, added: “Two occupants of a VW Golf, a 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and driving while disqualified respectively; both have been released pending further investigation.

The driver of the Ford Focus is helping police with enquiries.

Investigators are currently trying to piece together what happened in the moments leading up to the collision, and are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened.”
