An elderly man has been seriously injured in a hit and run collision in Maypole last night.
The pedestrian, who is in his late 70s, was crossing the A435 Alcester Road South near to the junction of Glenavon Road at around 10.25pm after collecting a take away when he was hit by a white van.
He was rushed to hospital, where he is being treated for critical injuries.
Police are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in contact.
Det Sgt Alan Wood from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The man is in a critical condition and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch. We believe the van had writing on the side and are asking the driver to do the right thing and hand himself in so they can explain what happened.”
