Catch a flick

Sundown Cinema returns to MAC this summer with an absolutely awesome line-up. A full evening of surprises awaits as themed cocktails, menus and music will light up the outdoor arena come rain or shine. Choose your favourite super-star screening and treat your date, family or a friend to a magnificent movie. Four films will play across four dates. Although, be warned! Some instant classics are on this list so pick wisely. Either that, or hit all four!

Get creative

We can always trust MAC to encourage kiddie creativity and they are proving this all over again by hosting an array of fun mini-courses for children during the summer hols! One that caught our eye in particular was the ‘Make a Bat Detector and Go on a Bat Walk’ course. This will see young adventurers form technical equipment from craft materials and electronic parts that will help them to go out bat detecting as the sun sets. If that sounds a little too daring, there are various other courses to book that will allow adults and children to explore their artsy and active sides.

Family fun

If it is a family day out you are after, then grab yourself and the family tickets to an outdoor show. Open air events are all the rage this year and the Midlands Arts Centre are certainly pulling out those punches. We recommend the Grand Indian Circus, if it’s an energising, all-action experience you are excited by. Alternatively, The Acorn Emporium is a cute and educational fairy-tale brought to life by the Untied Artists, fit for any nature-lover, big or small!

‘Go to the beach’

Ok, don’t actually! Stick around and bag yourself tickets to all three instalments of Life’s A Beach instead! This outdoor theatre show takes place across three specially designed caravans. Each one set-up to portray a different experience shared across different cultures with the familiar theme being – the great British seaside. This is one of a kind, innovative entertainment, so we must urge you to see it before it sails away.

Lots of Laughs

Comedy nights will also be occurring frequently as part of the summer programme. Definitely a great pick if you fancy something a little different for some light evening entertainment. Plenty of laughs are to be had across various events courtesy of Upfront Comedy, founded by comedian John Simmit plus Barbara Nice who will be bringing friends along for her Summer Special, back by popular demand!
