Foodies Festival, the UK’s largest outdoor celebration of food, drink and wellbeing, returns to Birmingham’s Cannon Hill Park from Friday 23rd until Sunday 25th June.
Chefs joining the festival this year include Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown and local Junior Bake Off Winner Amari Koryang in the Cakes & Desserts Theatre and Michelin Star Chefs Nathan Eades, Richard Turner and Brad Carter cooking their signature dishes in the Stoves Chefs Theatre with. The festival also welcomes MasterChef’s Lorna Robertson, Juanita Hennessey, Saira Hamilton and Dhruv Baker, Nicola “Milly” Millibank of BBC’s Call the Midwife, winner of Vegan Bake Off Katy Beskow, Tony Cridland of 1847 Restaurant, Aktar Islam of Lasan Group, Juree and Toquil Chidwick of Sibai Sibai and Rosie Ginday of Miss Macaron all of whom will cook their signature dishes live in the Chefs’ Theatre while explaining how home cooks can prepare the same dishes for friends and family.
Exciting new features in 2017 include the Healthy Living Zone which will feature hourly free yoga classes every day at Foodies Festival hosted by yogahaven, along with a which complement the food and drink theatres for 2014 include a spectacular Chocolate, Bake and Preserves Theatre which will host top pastry chefs, chocolatiers, bakers, sugarcraft experts and jam and preserve makers. Audience members will be invited to roll up their sleeves and lend a helping hand to Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite, Steampunk baker Emily Ladybird, Charlotte White of Restoration Cake and local baker and writer Jessica Haggerty. After watching how it’s done, those with a sweet tooth can satisfy their cravings in the new Chocolate, Baking and Preserves Village with a huge selection of treats from chocolate and confectionary makers, bakers and cake makers.
Feast in the Street Food Avenue; learn to bake in the Cake and Bake Theatre; enjoy afternoon tea in the Vintage Tea Tent; taste wine, champagne and craft beer in the Drinks Theatre; enjoy free yoga classes with yogahaven, buy from local producers in the Artisan Market or feast in the Feasting Tent; kids enjoy the Childrens Cookery Theatre; live music on the Unsigned Music Awards Stage; enter the Chilli Eating Competition; refreshing cocktails from the Bar Bus and Pimms Teapot, and have a fun day out in the VIP experience.
For those who like it HOT, a Chilli Food Market will excite those with a love for spicy foods with a range of chilli growers and artisan producers of sauces, sweets and jams. Those who can handle the heat can enter the Chilli Eating Challenge which takes place at 5pm daily. A brand new Foodies Cake Off Competition will be hosted daily in the Cakes and Desserts Theatre, simply bring along your homemade bake and entries will be judged at 3pm each day. An overall winner at each Foodies Festival will a KitchenAid Mini courtesy of KitchenAid UK.
