Emergency services were called to Mount View, at around 1.30PM this afternoon (06/03), to reports of a fire in a block of flats.

On arrival, crews found a small fire on the 3rd floor landing inside Redway Court.

Firefighters from Sutton Coldfield, Erdington and Perry Barr fire stations worked along side paramedics to make sure everyone was safe and well.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “Firefighters used a ladder to rescue two adult women and two young children from a third floor flat.

“Thankfully, none of those rescued were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and they were all discharged at the scene.

“Ambulance staff carried out assessments on a 29 year old woman, a 17 month old boy and a 3 month old girl.  A second adult woman declined an assessment.

“An 82 year old woman and a 49 year old man who were in the same block were also assessed by ambulance staff; both were discharged after check-ups on their breathing.”

The fire has now be extinguished and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
