After seven years of publishing daily updates for my home city, I have decided it’s time for me to move on.
I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved in creating Birmingham Updates and it is time to let the team carry on. I began Birmingham Updates (BU) during the riots in 2011 and it is now one of the most influential news sources in the United Kingdom. Since starting BU we’ve changed the status quo of local news by publishing news people want to read in a way that matters to them. I believe news should be delivered in a concise way with the audience and good morals at the forefront of the publishers’ mind.
Under my guidance as Editor in Chief, BU has published award-winning content including local stories, breaking news, viral content, information from emergency services and local authorities. We’ve also started to build a partner network of, incredible businesses from retail giants (Selfridges and John Lewis) to local brands (Birmingham Museums Trust and Aston University) to help expand their reach online and put BU onto a sustainable footing.
I’ve met so many truly wonderful people over the last seven years who have helped me grow as a person and the website to grow immensely.
I would like to say thank you so much to everyone I’ve worked with, including the people behind West Midlands Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, West Midlands Fire Service and Birmingham City Council.
Last but not least, thank you so much to the audience of BU for their overwhelming support.
From the bottom of my heart I wish the company, that I founded in 2011, all the best for their continued success.
Thank you very much
