- Sessions demonstrating how to use household objects to reverse oil pollution and filter rubbish out of the ocean
All events are designed to give visitors a fun day out, whilst also educating them on the importance of sustainable living and how our actions will impact the future of the oceans and marine life.
Inspired Family Day will also give young people the chance to speak to academics at the University and get an early insight into the range of subjects on offer at the institution and future creative careers.
Sara Middleton, Associate Dean of Birmingham City University’s Faculty of Arts, Design and Media, said: “Our annual Inspired Family Day has been very successful over the past few years and this year it will be even bigger and better than before.
“The Family Day launches our Inspired Festival and gives us the opportunity to connect with the local community and celebrate the abundance of creative talent at our City Centre Campus
“Our aim is to introduce the next generation to different study areas such as Jewellery, Media, Architecture and Design while showcasing our facilities during a fun, educational, day out for all the family.
“That this year coincides with World Oceans Day gave us the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of, and best ways to, protect our oceans and our environment
“We hope to see people from right across the region join us for a day which will be fun and informative.”
World Oceans Day (8 June) is an annual celebration of our oceans and aims to raise awareness of ways to protect them and the sealife which inhabits them.
Activities will draw on these key elements to raise awareness to attendees of how small changes to their lifestyles can have a big impact on our planet and environment.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to view work on display as part of the University’s Inspried Festival, which will be showcased around its Parkside Building.
