Officers were called to reports of disorder in Yardley Green Road at around 5:50pm on Monday (01/10) where three people were found with injuries.
One of the three – a 50-year-old woman – has since died; a post mortem examination will take place later today to try and establish the cause of her death.
The two other people injured have been released from hospital but are now in police custody. A 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and a 57-year-old man on suspicion of affray. Both are also currently in police custody.
A cordon remains in place and house to house enquiries are continuing.
Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the homicide team at West Midlands Police, said: ” We understand there may have been some sort of disagreement within the house, we’re continuing to try and establish the circumstances around the sad death of this woman.
“I would urge anyone who saw anything, or has any other information which can assist our investigation to contact us as soon as possible.
“My thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time who are being assisted by specialist officers.”
