Sunny Beach (also known as Slanchev Bryag) is the largest and most popular resort complex in Bulgaria. It was voted the best value holiday destination in Europe for the fourth consecutive time in the Holiday Costs Report published in 2017. The resort offers a range of hotels – from luxury resorts to comfortable villas and aparthotels that are suitable for all and is situated on the southern Black Sea coast.

The tourist season lasts from May until October and has a daily average temperature during the summer months of 27°C. Sunny Beach is situated along the widest and one of the most beautiful beach strips and was awarded the prestigious International Blue Flag prize for its clean environment, golden sands, natural dunes and clean sea water.

Sunny Beach offers 24-hour entertainment for children and adults of all ages. Waterskiing, banana-boating and parasailing are available on the beach are and there are several aqua parks in the resort – Action Aqua Park and Kuban Aqua Park – and Aqua Paradise and Pirates of the Caribbean Mini Aqua Park in nearby Nessebar. Children’s activities and entertainment in the resort include Kids Clubs, animation, discos, horse-riding and carting, and the Horrorwood haunted house in front of the Pirin Hotel is a popular tourist attraction for families.

There are more than 200 restaurants and bistros within the resort. Sample the local dishes including fresh fish and seafood straight from the Black Sea, Borek (a sesame-topped cheese-filled pastry), kavarma stew, drusan kebab or roasted lamb, or cuisines from all over the world at incredibly reasonable prices. In fact, of the 20 destinations surveyed by Post Office Travel Money, Sunny Beach was ranked number one for its value for money on beach items, family meal prices and drinks.

For adults, the nightlife attracts popular DJ’s and performers, with live music bars, multi-level nightclubs, casinos, pubs, karaoke bars, and Sunny Beach is particularly famous for its beach festivals. For a quieter evening are numerous cultural programmes on offer at the resort including exhibitions, folklore and symphony concert performances.

The architecture of ancient Nessebar is also a must-see, being declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site with magnificent architecture and influences from its extensive cultural history. Want to explore a wider area? Short boat trips to Nessebar inland are also organised regularly.
