Man arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences in Birmingham.

A man, aged 34, is currently in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Officers from West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit made the arrest at an address in Birmingham on Wednesday (16/11).

A spokesperson from West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, said: “The arrest was pre-planned and intelligence-led; there was no threat to the public’s safety.

An address in Birmingham is subject of an ongoing search.

The man was arrested under terrorism legislation, meaning officers have an initial 48 hours to question the suspect before charging, releasing or applying for a warrant of further detention.”
