Mixing nightlife with wildlife – International DJ’s Facebook festival for Twycross Zoo

-

An international DJ from the West Midlands is set to mix nightlife with wildlife when he moves his mastery of house music from the dancefloor to Facebook to raise cash for Twycross Zoo this Saturday.

DJ Shane Hopkinz – better known as Shade – will broadcast a 2-hour festival-style live set streamed online, complete with multiple cameras, visual effects and footage from the zoo.

The DJ has had a hugely-successful 12 months, playing at some of the best clubs in the world and being signed by Viva Music, the record label owned by  global A-list DJ Steve Lawler.

DJ ‘bedroom’ feeds have become popular with dance music fans during lockdown, and now Shade wants to step it up a gear with a high-tech festival-style set to help the famous local zoo.

The online event, streamed on Facebook live this Saturday from 7-9pm, will be hosted by Tamworth company AT Communication, in a purpose-built studio designed like the main stage at a festival.

The stage will include multiple cameras, a live host and a Visual Jockey (VJ) – who will be mixing and live-editing visuals from the zoo assets to create an immersive experience for the audience.

Twycross Zoo, located between Tamworth and Ashby, is suffering greatly from the pandemic lockdown which has seen revenue totally disappear. The zoo has reopened this week, after warning that the loss of revenue caused by the lockdown had caused concern over the famous landmark’s future.

Global music brands Pioneer and Mixmag are backing Shade’s online fundraiser.

The event is being organised by Councillor Paul Brindley, also known as Brina, who previously owned clubs and has hosted parties all over the UK in unique spaces including stately homes, castles, monasteries, as well as owning 2 house music record labels.

He said: “If you love house music and if you love animals then this is the perfect event for you during lockdown!

“It’s for a great cause and we guarantee to bring you a great party vibe direct into your home, you just need to link the live stream direct to a big screen or your home sound system then turn it up!

“As well as the fantastic music soundtrack and visual experience we will be bringing to you please remember the serious side of what we are doing and and please donate for a very needy cause, the wellness and safety of the animals and our beloved local Twycross Zoo have been threatened by the forced pandemic closure.

“Although they are now open again they need help desperately to get back on track and they are a long way from normal conditions.”

“The event will give the viewers a real live experience in their own home!”
