From the first bus service on Monday 30 March 2020, National Express West Midlands is making further reductions to its bus routes and timetables in response to changes in demand and the new government restrictions on travel.
This is after the changes to bus services which came in to force on Wednesday 25 March.
New timetables are now available on the nxbus.co.uk website.
The bus operator has worked closely with Transport for West Midlands through the Bus Alliance to co-ordinate these latest changes and will continue to monitor passenger numbers on all routes to ensure key workers have the bus services they need.
- A small number of very lightly used routes will be suspended for a while. National Express West Midlands has tried to ensure there are suitable alternatives within a reasonable walking distance.
- On most routes, times of first buses will be the same or within a few minutes of current times.
- On most routes, there will be no change to the timings of the last bus.
- Nearly all Saturday services will be running to the same timetables as Monday-Friday.
- Sunday services will continue to run, but some will have revised timetables from Sunday 5th April.
Chris Gibbens, Commercial Director for National Express West Midlands, said:
“With these new timetables, we are still aiming to provide an effective network of bus services across the region, so key workers can get to where they need to be.
“We are also making sure there are bus services to hospitals and supermarkets for grocery shopping.
“Given these unprecedented times buses will be scheduled to turn up less often on many routes – and for that, we do apologise if it causes inconvenience.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind all our customers of the current government advice including to remain 2 metres apart at all times – when you’re getting on and off the bus, and when you’re choosing where to sit. Our route planning teams are closely monitoring passenger numbers on National Express West Midlands buses to make sure customers can safely practise social distancing on board.
“All the new timetables for Monday are on our website nxbus.co.uk and I’d urge everyone to check them before they travel.”
