Murder inquiry launched after man is found with stab injuries in Sparkbrook

West Midlands Police have launched a murder enquiry after a man was found at a flat with stab injuries at a flat in Sparkbrook.

Officers were called to the multi-occupancy property in Ladypool Road just before 4.30pm today (16/03) where a Somalian man was found collapsed.

He had suffered knife injuries and the air ambulance called – but the victim was pronounced dead before he could be taken on board.

The victim is yet to be identified.

Detectives from our Homicide Unit are at the scene carrying out quick-time inquiries in a bid to understand what happened and who is responsible.

Local neighbourhood officers are also on the ground to support CID colleagues and reassure members of the community.

Detective Inspector Jim Mahon, said: “We understand there was a disturbance at the address which has resulted in a man losing his life.

“We’re in the process of speaking to several people who were present at the property and are following up numerous lines of enquiry.

“If anyone saw or heard anything significant in Ladypool Road, by the junction of Brighton Road, from 3pm this afternoon we’d like to hear from them.”
