A murder investigation has been launched after a man has died from suffering serious injuries following an attack at the end of last month.
Garry Twist, aged 54, was found with serious head injuries on Shaftmoor Lane in the Hall Green area of Birmingham at around 11:40pm on Saturday 30 September.
He was attacked a short time after leaving the College Arms pub with his girlfriend.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly died late on Monday (16/10).
Relatives have paid tribute to Garry saying: “’To our beloved son, wonderful brother, loving partner… Garry was the light of our lives. We and many others will never forget such a fun loving, gentle man.”
Labourer Simeon Corry aged 32, of Gospel Lane, Acocks Green was charged with attempted murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm; he was remanded in custody.
Detective Inspector Harry Harrison, from Force CID, said: “Following the sad death of Garry this is now a murder investigation. I am currently reviewing the charges brought earlier this month.
“Our investigation is very much on-going and I would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed this brutal attack who hasn’t yet spoken to us. We are especially keen to speak to the customers who were in the college arms pub that evening.
“The victim’s family members have been fully updated and are being supported as they try to come to terms with their loss.”
